Big Jackpot for Mega Millions
   posted 11:20 am Fri August 31, 2007 - Washington
The second-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever is up for grabs in Friday night's drawing. The estimated jackpot for the multi-state game is $330 million.

The record is $390 million set back in March.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Virginia Lottery executive director Sheila Hill Christian says if nobody wins Friday night, the jackpot will soar well past $400 million and set a national record for all lotteries, including Powerball.

Christian says Mega Millions tickets are selling at the unusually brisk pace of about 9,000 per minute in Virginia.

She says you can buy a ticket up until about 10:45 p.m., which is 15 minutes before the drawing, but she advises against waiting that late.

She also warns folks NOT to buy more tickets than they can comfortably afford.

In addition to Virginia, states participating in Mega Millions are California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas and Washington state.
