O'Malley to Discuss Living Wage in Advance of Holiday

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley is celebrating Labor Day a little early Friday, calling reporters to hype a new living wage law that could boost the pay of some state contractors.
The law is the first statewide living wage requirement in the nation.
Backed by O'Malley, it requires contractors seeking business with the state to pay at least $8.50 an hour.
In the most expensive parts of the state, from Washington to Baltimore, the wage will be even higher, $11.30 an hour.
The law takes effect October First.
O'Malley plans to promote the new law in a news conference at an AFL-CIO office near the state Capitol.
