Police: Warm Weather Provokes 'Flashers'
posted 7:37 am Wed July 25, 2007 - Fredericksburg, VA
Indecent exposure cases are more common during warmer weather.
There have been 12 flasher cases reported in Fredericksburg since May First, including three this past weekend.
Police Spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe credits people's natural yearning for attention. She says these folks want an audience.
She also says ... quote ... "People are outdoors more often."
Out of these recent reports, is there a connection between these cases?
Bledsoe says absolutely NOT.
She says with the last three incidents that occurred over this weekend, police received three very different descriptions and it doesn't necessarily sound like the same person.
Bledsoe says if you're a victim, the first thing to do is make noise.
Also try to get a detailed description of the suspect and where they're headed and call 911.
Convicted flashers can go to jail for up to a year, plus pay a fine of up to $2500.
