Police are looking for more information on how a 3-year-old boy received gunshot wounds in his apartment.
Lieutenant Damion Taylor says that police initially received a report that the boy was shot in a school playground across the street from his home. But after interviews with witnesses and at the hospital, Taylor now says the boy was accidentally shot in the foot and the hand inside his Northeast Washington apartment at the 36-hundred block of J Street Northeast Saturday night.
Taylor says police are looking into whether the toddler discharged the weapon, or if it was mishandled by someone else inside the apartment.

Police say the boy did not suffer life-threatening injuries and is recovering in a hospital.
